A hot, cold, relaxing day at Le Scandinave Spa

Cameron and Kyle

Heavenly. The spa is situated on a hillside riverbank, surrounded by majestic Canadian forest—the perfect setting for all the spa has to offer. They advise a rotation of “hot-cold-relax.” During our hot sessions we enjoyed everything—the majestic waterfall Jacuzzi, the steam sauna and the dry sauna. The purpose of the “hot” portion is to relax the body and open the pores. Following the hot sessions we experienced the cold portion, either through the cold pools or the actual river, located down the hill via a serene woodland path. Our preferred “cold” treatment was in the river, where we could feel the strong current and bask in the sunlight under the wide-open sky.

The spa offered various ways to enjoy the relaxation part of the cycle. Our favourites were sitting by the outdoor fire (which gave off a very appealing aroma and enabled us to better enjoy the nature-like experience) and lounging in one of the many comfortable hammocks. In fact, after three amazing cycles of hot-cold-relax, I drifted off to an easy slumber in one of the woodland tree hammocks, while Cameron enjoyed a blissful, tranquil Swedish massage.

(Cameron) This was only the second massage I have ever had in my life and it was wonderful. I had a sweet girl named Francine and she was tiny. She did have strong hands though and I was able to relax for an entire hour and just focus on myself. I enjoyed that spa treatment so much and I felt like a princess. I also took a peek at the prices for the spa and found out you can get a package with the baths for a very reasonable price. I would recommend it to anyone.

After three hours of this regal treatment our bodies where totally relaxed, our minds were clear, and we were energized and ready to enjoy more of the splendours of Mont-Tremblant.

Outdoor adventure and a romantic evening

Cameron and Kyle

Our beautiful bike tour began a bit rough. Charles, our cameraman, who happens to be a talented mountain biker, was guiding us on our tour. He began climbing up a rocky mountainside and the climb was difficult and proved especially challenging for me. I was slipping and sliding all over the trail and was actually pretty scared. I had never mountain biked before and thought that this was not going to be a very good activity at all. But at the moment I was about to give up, we realized that we were not on the regular bike path for tourists!!! It turns out there is another track that is much easier, and we were definitely not on it.

We backtracked down the hill and found the main bike path, which is a 6 km paved loop through the woods and along the river. The track was fairly easy, but did have some strenuous hills. But the hills were so worth it when we arrived at the riverside. We were able to park our bikes and walk down to the water, where the vantage point was gorgeous. Picture someone fishing along a beautiful river in a movie and that is what it was like, peaceful and picturesque.

After much debate and many questions to the hotel staff, we decided to try the luge. It is just how you would picture it being, but without the snow. You sit in a low black cart with handlebars that let you pull back to brake and ease off to go forward.

We got our helmets and rode the ski lift up the mountain to get to the top of the course. Charles strapped a small camera to the top of Kyle’s helmet and we got some great footage!

We raced the whole way down the mountain—and it was a long course. Kyle succeeded in bumping me several times and I screamed the whole way down. It was great!

Our dinner at Les Artistes was romantic and delicious. We chose a secluded spot in the restaurant’s back and were soon greeted by our waitress. She helped me choose a good bottle of wine for our dinner, a pinot noir.

For appetizers I ordered a lobster and seafood ravioli and Kyle ordered vegetables with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. Each plate came out looking like a work of art and both were absolutely delicious.

For the main course we both ordered the Angus beef filet and it was spectacular. Kyle ate it with a strong pepper sauce and I had a sweeter red wine sauce. It came with vegetables, potatoes and a stuffed tomato. All the while, the wine complimented the meal perfectly. Kyle and I were able to spend some real quality time over this fantastic meal discussing our lives, future plans and just general thoughts. It was very special for us.

I won’t leave out the amazing dessert we ordered—the cheesecake! It was a round cake with berries, strawberries, grapes, and a sweet fruit sauce over top of it. Phenomenal.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Mont-Tremblant. We would definitely go back given the opportunity.

After an amazing dinner at Les Artistes, we walked uphill to Tremblant’s plaza where we joined hundreds of other people for the free outdoor concert put on by Alfa Rococo. The square was filled with tourists and locals alike, some dancing, others singing, and still others sitting or strolling by. The weather was perfect, the stars were brilliant, and we lazily sipped beers while enjoying the music for about an hour.

It had been a long two days for us. So when the concert ended around 11 p.m. we wandered back to our room and relaxed a bit before drifting off to a restful sleep.
